The German Language, Life and Culture program is open to students from any faculty of University of Manitoba.
For current students, completing the micro-diploma will add an additional credential to your degree and can kick-start your professional development if you plan to embark on an international career.
Learn the fundamentals of the German language in the language courses. Explore contemporary German life and culture through popular music, food, film and much more. Learn about Germany today by engaging with short stories, music videos, graphic novels, and other texts. Take a look at multiculturalism, the environment, family structures and many other aspects of life in Germany. Engage with the German-Canadian community in Manitoba and hear from guest speakers for a lively and authentic learning experience. The micro-diploma in German language, life and culture is a great primer for students looking to study or work abroad. The University of Manitoba grants university credit for a number of different types of programs abroad. You can choose from exchange programs, travel study courses and field study courses that provide hands-on experience while allowing time to travel, explore and even work abroad. Scholarships and grants may also be available for some programs.

General requirements
- Applicants must meet one of the two entrance routes: Direct Entry or Advanced Entry.
Direct entry applicants are those with fewer than 24 credit hours of post-secondary course work completed. Direct entry applicants must meet one of the following admission requirements:
- Must have graduated from high school with at least 5 full credits at the Grade 12 level in courses designated S, G, or U and must have achieved a minimum average of 70 per cent over the following, with no less than 60 per cent in each of: English 40S; Mathematics 40S; Two academic 40S courses.
Advanced entry applicants are students with 24 or more credit hours of post-secondary course work completed. Advanced entry applicants must meet one of the following admission requirements:
- Must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours of coursework at a recognized college or university with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 (C) or better.
