Overview
What you will study
To ensure that the learning rights and safety of all students and staff are not compromised, it is critical that those working in special education have a complete and current understanding of the law and how it guides their day-to-day actions. The Legal Guide to Special Education Law program offered by York University will discuss that.
Programme Structure
The program focuses on:
- The latest human rights case law relating to special education and schools
- The positive duty to address allegations of discrimination in the school
- Strategies for dealing with violent behavior in schools: protecting students and staff
- How does OHSA impact special needs students, their teachers, and other educational workers?
- Can a school board refuse to admit a student under the Education Act? Why and how?
