About

Product Design Strategy is a self-paced online programme curated by Cal Thompson, former VP of Product Design & Research at Headspace and former Design Director at Fjord.

Overview

Design leaders are excellent at creating vision — but influencing product strategy, aligning with business goals, and advocating for meaningful metrics can be challenging.

This programme equips senior product designers and Heads of UX with the tools, frameworks, and confidence to:

  • Clearly identify and articulate gaps in product roadmaps

  • Align design initiatives with business and human impact

  • Use multiple data sources to inform strategic decisions

  • Inspire stakeholders with a compelling future vision

  • Compete effectively in crowded markets

Across five hours of pre-recorded content and practical exercises, Cal Thompson shares insights from leading Product Design and Research at Headspace and delivering digital transformation at Fjord/Accenture.

The course blends:

  • Strategy frameworks

  • Real case studies (Headspace & Fjord)

  • Practical exercises and templates

  • Research and measurement methodologies

  • Tools to influence executives and cross-functional partners

Participants also receive a template for annual planning, strategic frameworks to influence roadmaps, and insights into how Headspace integrates AI into the creative process while maintaining a human-centred approach.

The programme is fully self-paced and can be completed over five weeks (one chapter per week) or in an intensive 2-day format. Learners have one year of access.
