The University of Ottawa is the largest bilingual (English-French) university in the world. Located at the heart of Canada’s capital, we have ready access to the great institutions of our country. Our advances in social sciences, health, engineering, science and the humanities make uOttawa a unique place to learn, grow and excel.
The College of Bytown was founded in 1848 by the Oblates of Mary Immaculate as a bilingual Catholic college; from its very beginnings, students studied in both English and French. In 1866, the recently renamed College of Ottawa was elevated to university status by royal charter, and in 1889, it secured a pontifical charter.

A very nice university with many professors that care about their students success. Great location right beside the mall. Many study spots and enough computer labs. It can be a bit cold to walk from one building to another in winter, but there are some connections between buildings which makes it nicer. The bus stop is right in front of campus.

The university offers a great course sequence for my program and I find that theres a good selection of majors available. As an international student, the selling point for me was the CO-OP opportunities. Also great for bilingual or French speakers. Overall the school is a good place to get your stuff done.

Downtown campus life in Ottawa
Overall, I enjoyed my time at the University of Ottawa. I do wish that they updated some of their older buildings because some of them don't have elevators. The campus is downtown near Rideau Centre (mall). So there were plenty of opportunities to go out for lunch with friends or go shopping. I do wish that the university offered more student research positions. I also hope that they allow for more virtual classes.
