This two-day Food Microbiology 101 short course at Edith Cowan College was developed by Edith Cowan University at the request of the Department of Health (WA), and is intended for people working in the food manufacturing, food service and catering, food safety auditing and quality control, hospitality, aged care, hospitals, schools and day-care centre settings. 

Overview

Upon successful completion of all post-course assessments and case studies based on the 5 pre-reading modules and practical laboratory work, participants will be be able to demonstrate that they meet the 40 hours microbiology training requirement to be registered as a regulatory food safety auditor in Western Australia. The course follows a ‘Laboratory/Lecture format, with interactive discussions and lectures, as well as hands-on activities in our ECU Super-laboratories.
