Overview
Upon successful completion of all post-course assessments and case studies based on the 5 pre-reading modules and practical laboratory work, participants will be be able to demonstrate that they meet the 40 hours microbiology training requirement to be registered as a regulatory food safety auditor in Western Australia. The course follows a ‘Laboratory/Lecture format, with interactive discussions and lectures, as well as hands-on activities in our ECU Super-laboratories.

The Food Microbiology 101 course at Edith Cowan College will provide you with a basic understanding of the types and characteristics of microorganisms that threaten food safety and how to detect, monitor and effectively control this hazard in your food handling processes. You will will also learn how to interpret laboratory reports often produced by food microbiology laboratories.
