Chelsea College of Arts

Chelsea has established itself as one of London's most prestigious art and design colleges and our Fine Art, Graphic Design Communication, Interior and Spatial Design and Textile Design courses accommodate just over 1,400 students each year.

Our size makes it easy for students and staff to feel like they belong at Chelsea, and also opens doors for cross-course collaborations and conversations throughout the College.

Students learn about the practical, theoretical and professional elements of their subject in well-equipped workshops from our expert staff, all practicing artists and designers themselves, and also have access to Chelsea's extensive library facilities.

The College's Grade ll listed Pimlico campus overlooks both the River Thames and Tate Britain from our central London location. Chelsea’s students will also follow in the footsteps of some of our most illustrious alumni including Anish Kapoor, Steve McQueen, Haroon Mirza, Mariko Mori, Mike Nelson, Chris Ofili, Mark Wallinger and Tatty Devine co-founders - Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden.

Chelsea College of Arts' research strengths lie in textiles, critical fine art practice, transnational art, drawing, art history and theory, interior and spatial design, moving image, museology and curation, photography and oral history of art and design.

Graduate School

The Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Graduate School is the home of our research degree and taught postgraduate students. Our staff are professors, readers and fellows, visiting tutors and other research supervisors. Working with the Graduate School are established research centres, TrAIN and Ligatus, as well as research networks.

The Graduate School is committed to four related research themes:

  • environment
  • technologies
  • social engagement
  • identities

We reflect and amplify these four research themes through our Graduate School events programme.

Central to the success of the Graduate School are the quality of its research provision, the calibre of staff and students and the collaborative partnerships with external institutions, organisations and key individuals in the cultural sector and beyond.
